Intrinsic Levitation: Perhaps the largest change in CFM is the
addition of intrinsic levitation – hence, you may have noticed that nothing
gets Levitate as an Ability anymore! Intrinsic levitation means that almost every
Pokémon which is demonstrably able to float or fly is granted a passive
immunity to Spikes, Earthquake and Earth Power, and are unaffected by Terrains.
This trait is shared by almost all Flying-types and all non-aquatic Pokémon
with levitating sprites. As this is rather a powerful trait, there are two
major limitations: ·
being paralysed,
frozen or put to sleep will ground a Pokémon and negate its intrinsic
levitation, rendering it vulnerable to all Ground-type moves, Spikes and the
effects of Terrains ·
several Ground-type
moves, and moves that can become Ground-type, are able to hit levitating Pokémon
for at most neutral damage. These are: Drill
Run, Stomping Tantrum, Mud Bomb, Mud Slap, Mega Punch, Mega Kick, Hyper Fang,
Slash, Hidden Power, Natural Gift, Judgment One should be able to tell
if a Pokémon levitates or not by its sprite or typing. Nonetheless, there are a
few exceptions. The following do NOT have intrinsic levitation and are thus
susceptible to Ground-type moves, Spikes, and are affected by Terrains: Doduo, Dodrio, Gyarados, Mantyke, Mantine, Carnivine, Rufflet and Vullaby.
Additionally, the following Pokémon do have passive levitation due to their
divine nature: Arceus and Solgaleo. |
Status Effects: Every status effect has had
some adjustment in CFM: ·
Burn:
the afflicted loses 1/8th of their max HP per turn (just like in vanilla
Gens I – VI). The 50% Attack reduction remains the same. Further, Water-types cannot be burned. (The
ability Water Veil has been repurposed as an Immunity clone). Scald, responsible for the
overwhelming majority of burns in vanilla play, has had its distribution
severely reduced – see Moves for information on its distribution. ·
Freeze:
the afflicted now has a 25% chance to thaw each turn, and will always thaw
after three turns. Fire-types cannot be
frozen. (The ability Magma Armour has been repurposed as a Fluffy clone). ·
Paralysis:
the afflicted has their Speed reduced by 66%. The chance of full paralysis has been reduced to just 10%. ·
Poison:
with the reduced distribution of Scald and Toxic, regular Poison is now a
viable way of inflicting passive damage on your foes. Poison Powder is now 90%
accurate and can be learned by several Grass-types. Using Poison Powder on a target twice will inflict regular Poison, then Toxic Poison. Toxic Spikes do not exist
in this metagame. ·
Sleep:
the move Sleep Talk can no longer call Rest. A Pokémon with Early Bird will always wake up on the turn after after it falls asleep. ·
Toxic Poison:
Toxic is now much, much rarer than in vanilla with the distribution being
mostly limited to Poison-types, many Dark-types and a few others. The move
Poison Tail is now 100BP and has a 30% chance to inflict Toxic Poison. For more
information on these moves, see Moves. |
